Why am I being charged VAT for an ebook purchase?
Unfortunately e books are subject to VAT under European and British law.
My name and a code are at the bottom of each page? Why? Why are some pages watermarked with that code?
There is nothing to worry about for users who observe our terms of use. This system enables you to access your Quicklook library whenever you want without having to worry about encryption software (which can cause problems). It also means that you can print your ebooks if you wish. We reserve the right to use the code to trace infringers and if need be take legal proceedings against them.
